Programs

We offer a rigorous curriculum and an array of special programs:

 

Fully integrated Technology Program includes a Software Engineering Program and Lego Robotics for the Principal's Gifted and Talented Class. 

 

Principal’s Gifted and Talented Class offers enrichment programs to qualified students throughout their tenure at Ditmas including 3 years of Foreign Language, Earth Science and Integrated Algebra Regents, preparation for the Specialized High School examination, Talent classes, and Community Service

 

Extended school day activities including math, reading, technology and athletics


CHAMPS: The CHAMPS Middle School Sports and Fitness League is an initiative of the New York City Department of Education that promotes student physical activity during the critical years of middle school. The name CHAMPS derives from the initials of the five characteristics that describe our participants: Cooperative, Healthy, Active, Motivated and Positive Students. CFY: (Computers For Youth)  a national nonprofit organization that helps students, teachers, and parents use digital learning to improve educational outcomes 


PowerMyLearning.org "A powerful system to personalize learning" & "empower students to take charge of their learning"


MSQI: "Middle School Quality Initiative" is an intensive academic support for schools in targeted areas of need, with MSQI we provide differentiated support to struggling students and use accountability measures to target interventions for those most struggling with specific literacy interventions


Student Success Academy prepares students for college readiness


ESL Program includes Achieve 3000 (Teen Biz) SIOP, RIGOR, SIFE, Word Generation, Spell Read, Title III Programs & MSQI


The Writing Institute: Every month the Writing Institute has an outstanding author or journalist or arts figure, this year so far, we have had : Veronica Chambers, Jacqueline Woodson and Todd Strasser. The Writing Institute will launch a family literacy book club funded by Dr. Reissman with free books and book conversations for the first 10 registering families.
