Core Values

What are Core Values?

Core Values are not descriptions of the work we do or the strategies we employ to accomplish our mission.

  • Our VALUES underlie our WORK - how we interact with each other - what strategies we employ to fulfill our mission
  • Our CORE VALUES are the Basic Elements of how we go about our work & get along with others

Ditmas I.S. 62 is a community, not just a school. A community is a group of people who share common interests, concerns and values. While we aim to help students find & cultivate their unique talents and individual voice, being part of our school is AGREEING to SHARE our common ideals and expectations. Our curriculum & teaching - school culture & ceremonies - rules & regulations - habits of interaction - inside & out of the classroom are based on the following Core Values: Respect for Humanity, Respect for Diversity,  Respect for the Intellect,  Respect for Truth, Commitment to Peace & Commitment to Justice.

Respect for Humanity

  • Respect for Diversity

  • Respect for the Intellect

  • Respect for the Truth

  • Commitment to Peace

  • Commitment to Justice

  • Commitment to Democracy
